Cool Stories | 1940s Levi’s 506xx

“This was my father’s jacket. He’s the original owner. He gave it to me in 1991 when my parents moved into a different house and I have had it in a garment bag in my closet since then. According to my dad, who grew up in Oakland, CA, my grandparents took him across the bay to the Levi Strauss garment factory in San Francisco when he graduated high school in 1942. There was some sort of outlet store at the factory or nearby. He wore it some before he went off to WWII when he turned 18. I don’t recall him wearing it too many times when I was growing up.”
“It came with the trademark square leather badge on the inside below the collar, but my father hated the way it scratched the back of his neck and had my grandmother remove it after a week or so.”
